Visible Cities

Comune di Rimini

Le città visibili (Visible Cities), a summer theatre and music festival curated by Tamara Balducci, is back again this year, now in its twelfth edition.
The festival, created to bring abandoned urban spaces such as the Garden of Palazzo Lettimi and the Ex-Macello in via Dario Campana back to life, does not lose its nature of contaminating the city with beauty with proposals that preserve a strong focus on artistic quality.

Hosting the kermesse are therefore the Francesca da Rimini Arena, the Corte degli Agostiniani, the Teatro degli Atti, the former Astoria cinema, the rooftop of the City Museum and the Cast Oro Teatro in Rimini.

The cultural proposals range from theatre, music, and ad hoc workshops, accompanying spectators on a particular path of reflection on the contemporary, without losing sight of the past and the future, as this festival has loved to do for twelve years now, through different interpretations.

The festival will be previewed by two appointments. On 12 August at 9.30 p.m. at the Francesca da Rimini Arena, in collaboration with SGR Live by the SGR Group, there is "Sconcerto d'amore" by the Nando e Maila company, which stages a troubled love story through the irony and "musical acrobatics" of a couple at odds. A concert-comedy show with aerial acrobatics, musical juggling and sound feats. Nando and Maila (Ferdinando D'Andria and Maila Sparapani) have made a bet: to play musicians of the impossible by transforming the self-supporting structure, where the trapeze and aerial fabrics are hung, into an unpredictable orchestra of instruments. The poles of the structure become drums, double bass, cello, harp and bells, which together with instruments such as trumpet, bombardino, accordion, violin and electric guitar, create a magical atmosphere defining an unusual world of sound (free admission offered by SGR).

On 16 August at 9.30 p.m. at the Corte degli Agostiniani is the turn of "La calda estate", a production by Le città visibili in collaboration with ANPI and the Municipality of Rimini. The show written by Riccardo Tabilio and directed by Michele Di Giacomo is dedicated to Mario Capelli, Luigi Nicolò, and Adelio Pagliarani, Rimini martyrs of the Liberation, eighty years after their deaths. On stage Lorenzo Carpinelli, Matteo Gatta, Tomas Leardini, Stefano Delvecchio (accordion), Adele Delvecchio (violin). Free entrance offered by ANPI.

The programme continues from 29 August to 15 September between theatre and music with artists such as Olivier Dubois, Marta Cuscunà, Gioia Salvatori, Roberto Abbiati and Leonardo Capuano, the Teatro Sotterraneo, Fanny&Alexander, Kepler-452 companies and many others.

New this year is the music section curated by Supèrfluo, a new format conceived by Equilibrista srls, which will make its debut in Rimini as part of Le città visibili from 6 to 8 September, presenting three concerts hosted on the rooftop of the Museo della Città (Via dei Cavalieri, 22): the protagonists of the evenings are Ainè, Elasi, and Anna Carol.

The image by Marco Smacchia chosen for this edition celebrates love in all its forms.

From Tuesday 16 July it is possible to join the festival's season ticket campaign, while pre-sales of individual tickets are available from 1 August.

Events may be subject to change, always contact organizers before going to the venue.
